🌿 Women’s Devotional — Day 205

Words Shaped by Grace and Wisdom

đź“– “Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.”
—Proverbs 16:24 (NKJV)

Scripture teaches that words carry tremendous influence. Speech has the power to encourage, comfort, strengthen, guide, or deeply wound. Proverbs compares pleasant words to honeycomb because gracious and wise speech brings refreshment, healing, and peace to those who hear it.

As a woman navigating relationships, responsibilities, and daily pressures, words are constantly being used—in conversations, decisions, corrections, encouragement, and responses during difficult moments. In seasons of stress or frustration, careless or harsh speech can easily arise.

Yet God calls you to speak differently. Pleasant words are not empty compliments or avoidance of truth. Biblical speech combines truth with grace, wisdom, and kindness. It seeks to strengthen rather than tear down and reflects the character of Christ.

Jesus taught that speech flows from the condition of the heart. Words reveal what is taking place internally. When the heart is filled with bitterness, pride, or anger, speech eventually reflects those things. But as Christ transforms the heart, words increasingly become marked by gentleness, wisdom, patience, and grace.

Through the Holy Spirit, Christ helps shape your speech. He convicts when words become harmful or impulsive and teaches you to pause before reacting. Over time, wise speech becomes evidence of spiritual maturity and surrender to God.

Wise words also require discernment. There are moments when encouragement is needed, moments when correction must be spoken, and moments when silence itself is wise. In every situation, speech should reflect truth spoken in love.

There will be times when choosing gracious speech feels difficult, especially during conflict, exhaustion, or emotional strain. In those moments, surrendering your words to Christ becomes an act of obedience and dependence upon Him.

Knowing Christ transforms speech from emotional reaction into communication shaped by grace, wisdom, and truth.

Words shaped by Christ bring peace, encouragement, and life to others.

Prayer:
Jesus, help me use my words in ways that honor You and encourage others. Guard my mouth from careless or harmful speech, and teach me to speak with wisdom, grace, truth, and gentleness. Let my words reflect a heart that is being transformed by Your Spirit each day. Amen.
