Paul’s instruction does not say to give thanks for every circumstance, but to give thanks in every circumstance. This distinction matters. Scripture does not call you to pretend hardship is good, but to remain thankful to God even in the middle of difficulty because His character and faithfulness remain unchanged.

As a teenager, circumstances can shift quickly. There may be moments of joy and success, but also disappointment, uncertainty, loneliness, or frustration. In difficult seasons, gratitude can feel unnatural because emotions tend to focus attention on what is missing or painful.
