🏡 Family Devotional — Day 201

Growing in Humility Together

đź“– “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
—James 4:6b (NKJV)

Humility is an important part of a Christ-centered family. A humble heart is willing to listen, learn, serve, and place others before self. God gives grace to those who walk in humility and depend on Him.

In family life, pride can lead to arguments, selfishness, stubbornness, and hurt feelings. But humility helps bring peace, understanding, and unity into the home. Humble family members are willing to apologize, forgive, and care for one another with gentleness.

Jesus perfectly showed humility through the way He served others and obeyed the Father. Even though He is Lord, He came with compassion, patience, and love. Families grow stronger when they follow His example together.

Parents can model humility by admitting mistakes, listening carefully, and treating others with kindness and respect. Children learn humility by seeing these attitudes practiced daily in the home.

Humility also teaches families to depend on God rather than rely solely on themselves. Through prayer and obedience to His Word, each family member learns that true strength comes from trusting Him.

There will be moments when humility requires surrender—choosing peace over pride, listening rather than insisting on being right, or serving without seeking recognition. In those moments, God’s grace helps families grow closer together.

Knowing Christ as a family means allowing His humility to shape your hearts and relationships. As humility grows, the home becomes a place filled with grace, peace, and love.

Prayer:
Jesus, help our family grow in humility and grace. Teach us to serve one another, to listen carefully, and to depend on You rather than on ourselves. Let our home reflect Your love, gentleness, and humility each day. Amen.
