🌿 Women’s Devotional — Day 188

Strengthening Others Through Encouragement

đź“– “Therefore encourage one another and build up one another…
—1 Thessalonians 5:11a (NASB 1995)

Encouragement is one of the ways God strengthens His people through relationships. Paul’s instruction is active and intentional—believers are called not merely to avoid harm with their words, but to build others up. Encouragement becomes a means through which grace is expressed and faith is strengthened.

As a woman navigating relationships, responsibilities, and daily interactions, there are many opportunities to either strengthen or discourage those around you. Words spoken in kindness, understanding, and truth can bring life to someone carrying hidden burdens. However, biblical encouragement goes deeper than simple compliments. It points others toward hope, truth, and endurance. It reminds weary hearts of God’s faithfulness and helps strengthen those who may feel overwhelmed or uncertain.

Jesus modeled this kind of encouragement throughout His ministry. He spoke truth with compassion, strengthened the weak, and brought hope to those who were struggling. As you grow in Him, He shapes your heart to do the same.

Through the Holy Spirit, Christ brings awareness to opportunities to encourage others. Sometimes this may come through a conversation, a message, a prayer, or simply taking time to listen. Small acts of encouragement can carry great impact because God often uses ordinary moments to strengthen hearts. Encouragement also requires intentionality. It means looking beyond your own responsibilities and recognizing others’ needs. This kind of outward focus reflects the love and grace of Christ. There will be moments when someone around you feels weary, discouraged, or unseen. In those times, your willingness to speak truth and grace may become part of how God ministers to them. Knowing Christ transforms your interactions into opportunities to strengthen others. Encouragement becomes not just something you do occasionally, but part of how you reflect Him daily.

A heart shaped by Christ becomes a source of strength and encouragement to others.

Prayer:
Jesus, help me encourage and build others up through my words and actions. Teach me to notice those who are weary or discouraged and to reflect Your grace and truth in how I respond. Let my life be a source of strength and encouragement to those around me. Amen.
