👩‍👧 Family Devotional — Day 40

Raising Children Led by the Spirit

“For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”Romans 8:14 (NASB 1995)

It’s tempting to rely solely on rules and structure in parenting, but our true hope is in the leading of the Holy Spirit—in our lives and our children’s.

God calls us not to control outcomes, but to cultivate hearts that follow Him. Mothers raising children in Christ must model dependence on the Spirit and teach their children to do the same.

Remind your children they are not alone. If they are in Christ, they are led—daily—by the Spirit of God.

Family Talk:

  • What does it mean to be “led by the Spirit”?
  • How can we practice listening for His direction?

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, help me raise children who are sensitive to Your leading. Teach us to listen, follow, and trust You as a family. Amen.

Learning What God Has Given

“Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God.”1 Corinthians 2:12 (NASB 1995)

The world will try to tell your children who they are, what they need, and what to believe. But they’ve been given something far better—the Spirit of God—who reveals all that the Father has freely given.

This is a comfort to mothers raising children in a noisy world: we are not alone in discipling them. The Spirit guides, convicts, teaches, and reveals truth.

We can parent with peace, knowing He will speak.

Family Talk:

  • What are some things God has given us that the world can’t?
  • How can we invite the Spirit to guide us every day?

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, open our hearts to Your truth. Let us walk in the riches God has freely given. Protect our minds from the world’s lies and lead us into truth. Amen.

Our Helper and Teacher

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.”John 14:26 (NASB 1995)

As mothers guiding our children through life and Scripture, we don’t always have the perfect words or answers—but the Holy Spirit does.

He was sent by Jesus to teach and remind us of everything He said. That means we can trust Him to help us teach our children too.

Invite Him into your parenting. Into your moments of correction. Into your family conversations about God’s Word.

Family Talk:

  • How can we ask the Holy Spirit to help us understand the Bible?
  • When has He reminded you of something Jesus said?

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, be the Teacher in our home. Guide us as we read Scripture and help us remember and obey the words of Jesus. Amen.

👩‍👧 Family Devotional — Day 37

The Spirit Helps Us Pray Together

“In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.”Romans 8:26 (NASB 1995)

As a family, there will be moments of grief, confusion, or uncertainty—times when words fail and tears come instead.

The Holy Spirit is with you in those moments. He hears the cries of your heart and speaks to the Father on your behalf.

You don’t have to pray perfectly—just sincerely.

Family Talk:

  • Can you remember a time when prayer was hard?
  • How can we lean on the Spirit more when we don’t have words?

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, thank You for helping us pray. Teach our family to come to You in every moment—especially when we don’t know what to say. Amen.

👩‍👧 Family Devotional — Day 36

Fruit That Blesses the Whole Family

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”Galatians 5:22–23 (NASB 1995)

Fruit doesn’t grow overnight—and neither does spiritual maturity. But when we walk with the Holy Spirit, His fruit starts to show—in how we talk, how we forgive, how we serve.

Families can become orchards of blessing when each person lets the Spirit work in their heart.

Family Talk:

  • Which fruit of the Spirit is easy for you to show?
  • Which one is hardest?
  • How can we help each other grow?

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, grow Your fruit in our family. Help us encourage each other and reflect Your love in everything we do. Amen.

👩‍👧 Family Devotional — Day 35

One Step at a Time, Together

“But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.”Galatians 5:16 (NASB 1995)

Walking by the Spirit isn’t just for Sundays—it’s for daily life. In your family, this looks like kindness instead of snapping, patience instead of anger, and choosing peace instead of blame.

As mothers and children walk together, you can also learn to walk with God—side by side with the Holy Spirit guiding every step.

Family Talk:

  • What’s one area we need the Spirit’s help to walk in today?
  • How can we remind each other gently to follow Him?

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, help us walk with You today as a family. Lead our words, actions, and attitudes so we reflect Jesus together. Amen.

👩‍👧 Family Devotional — Day 34

Love That Can’t Be Broken

“For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” — Romans 8:38–39 (NASB 1995)

Families sometimes face fear—accidents, illness, loss, or change. But today’s verse reminds us: no created thing—nothing in life or death—can break God’s love for us in Christ.

The Holy Spirit seals us as God’s children and gives us peace even in uncertain times.

Family Talk:

  • What’s something scary or hard we’ve faced?
  • How did God show His love during that time?

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, thank You for sealing us in God’s love. Help us remember that no matter what happens, we are safe in Christ Jesus. Amen.

👩‍👧 Family Devotional — Day 33

We Conquer Together

“But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.”Romans 8:37 (NASB 1995

As a family, you will face things together—challenges, changes, and hard conversations. But God’s Word says you are conquerors, not victims. Through Jesus, you win even when it’s tough.

The Holy Spirit gives families strength to forgive, endure, speak truth in love, and keep walking together—united and victorious in Christ.

Family Talk:

  • What’s something hard we faced recently?
  • How did God help us overcome it?

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, help our family stand strong through struggles. Remind us that we are more than conquerors through Jesus who loves us. Amen.

👩‍👧 Family Devotional — Day 32

Nothing Can Tear Us from His Love

“Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or trouble, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? Just as it is written: ‘For Your sake we are killed all day long; We were regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.’”Romans 8:35–36 (NASB 1995)

Families face struggles—job loss, illness, conflict, fear of the unknown. Yet this promise stands: nothing can separate us from Christ’s love.

The Spirit helps us remember that trials don’t mean God is far—they often mean He’s holding us closer. Like the early Church, our strength is not in ease, but in love that never lets go.

Family Talk:

  • What hard things are we going through right now?
  • How does this verse give us hope in the middle of them?

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, help our family cling to Your love in hard times. Remind us that we are never separated from Christ. Amen.

👩‍👧 Family Devotional — Day 31

No One Can Accuse What God Has Cleansed

“Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies; who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.”Romans 8:33–34 (NASB 1995)

Sometimes we hold onto guilt or past mistakes, even after asking for forgiveness. But God reminds us: no one can accuse His chosen ones.

The Spirit teaches our families to walk in grace—not perfectionism. Christ intercedes on our behalf. He’s not against us; He’s for us, even in our stumbles.

Family Talk:

  • Why do we sometimes still feel bad after saying sorry?
  • How can we remind each other of what Jesus has done for us?

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, teach our family to rest in the finished work of Jesus. Help us live without shame, knowing He speaks for us. Amen.
