🧒 Children’s Devotional — Day 40

“When You Feel Sad”

📖 “But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.”
—John 16:6 (NKJV)

Have you ever felt really sad because of something someone told you?

That’s how Jesus’ disciples felt.
He told them He was going away, and they didn’t understand.
They were afraid and confused—and their hearts felt full of sadness.

But Jesus wasn’t trying to scare them.
He was trying to help them understand something very important.

Even though He was going away, He wasn’t leaving them alone.
He was sending the Holy Spirit to be with them—and to live in them.

Sometimes, when we hear hard things or feel sad, we don’t see what God is doing.
But He is always good.
He always has a plan.
And He never leaves His children alone.

Think About It:

  • What do you do when you feel sad or don’t understand something about God?
  • How does it feel to know that Jesus sends His Spirit to comfort us?

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for loving me even when I feel sad or scared. Help me remember that You are always with me and that You have a good plan—even when I don’t understand. Amen.

🧒 Children’s Devotional — Day 39

“Where Are You Going?”

📖 “But now I go away to Him who sent Me, and none of you asks Me, ‘Where are You going?’”
—John 16:5 (NKJV)

Jesus told His friends He was going away.
But they were so sad and confused, they didn’t ask Him where He was going.

Sometimes, when we feel upset or don’t understand something, we stop asking questions.
We might just feel bad… and forget to go to Jesus.

But Jesus wants us to talk to Him—even when we’re sad, confused, or scared.

If His disciples had asked, they would’ve heard something amazing:
He was going to His Father in Heaven…
and He was making a way for us to come too.

So the next time something feels hard or confusing, remember:
You can always ask Jesus.
He’s never too far to hear you—and He always answers in love.

Think About It:

  • Why do you think Jesus wanted His disciples to ask where He was going?
  • What is something you want to ask Jesus about today?

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for always listening. Even when I don’t understand, help me come to You with my questions. I want to know You more and trust where You’re going. Amen.

🧒 Children’s Devotional — Day 38

“Jesus Told Us Ahead of Time”

📖 “But these things I have told you, that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you of them…”
—John 16:4a (NKJV)

Jesus always tells the truth—even when it’s about something hard.

He told His friends that one day, people wouldn’t like them for following Him.
But He didn’t say it to scare them.
He said it to prepare them.

That way, when things got hard, they would remember:
Jesus already told us this would happen.
And that means He’s still with us.

He never leaves us surprised or alone.
He wants you to be brave, strong, and full of His peace—even when things around you feel scary or unfair.

You can always remember what Jesus said.
And you can always trust that He’ll help you through it.

Think About It:

  • Why do you think Jesus tells us hard things ahead of time?
  • How does it help you feel when you know Jesus warned us and still loves us?

Prayer:
Dear Jesus, thank You for always telling me the truth. Help me remember Your words when things are hard. I know You love me and are always with me. Amen.

🧒 Children’s Devotional — Day 37

“When Others Don’t Like What You Believe”

📖 “They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service.”
—John 16:2 (NKJV)

Sometimes, people won’t like it when you follow Jesus.
They might laugh.
They might say mean things.
They might not want to be your friend.

But that doesn’t mean you should stop loving Jesus.
Even when it’s hard, Jesus is worth it.

A long time ago, His followers were kicked out of places because they loved Him.
And some people even thought hurting Christians made them right.

But Jesus warned us—because He wants us to be ready and brave.

When you feel left out or hurt because of your faith, remember:
You’re not alone.
Jesus knows. And He is proud of you for standing strong.

Think About It:

  • Has anyone ever teased you for loving Jesus?
  • How can you stay strong and kind, even when others aren’t?

Prayer:
Dear Jesus, help me to love You even when it’s hard. Give me courage to follow You and kindness to show others Your love. I want to stay close to You no matter what. Amen.

🧒 Children’s Devotional — Day 36

“Tell Others About Jesus”

📖 “And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning.”
—John 15:27 (NKJV)

Jesus told His friends something exciting:
“You will tell people about Me!”

And guess what?
That’s something you can do too!

You don’t have to be a grown-up to talk about Jesus.
You can tell a friend, a brother, or a neighbor that Jesus loves them.
You can show His kindness by how you act and how you speak.

Even a smile, a hug, or a prayer can be a way to say,
“Jesus is real, and He’s good!”

Think About It:

  • Can you think of one person who needs to hear about Jesus?
  • What’s one way you can show Jesus to someone this week?

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for letting me tell others about You. Help me be brave and kind. Let my words and my heart show people that You are full of love and truth. Amen.

🧒 Children’s Devotional — Day 35

“The Helper Talks About Jesus”

📖 “But when the Helper comes… He will testify of Me.”
—John 15:26 (NKJV)

Jesus gave us someone special:
The Holy Spirit—our Helper.

The Holy Spirit helps us understand who Jesus is.
He doesn’t make stuff up. He doesn’t lie.
He always tells the truth about Jesus!

That means when you’re reading the Bible, or singing worship songs, or listening in church—the Holy Spirit can help your heart say:
“Yes! Jesus is really that good!”

And when you forget how much Jesus loves you?
The Holy Spirit is there to remind you again.

Think About It:

  • Have you ever felt like something was true about Jesus deep in your heart? That’s the Holy Spirit helping you believe!
  • Can you ask Him to help you understand more about Jesus?

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, thank You for helping me know who Jesus is. Please keep reminding me how good, kind, and powerful He is. Help me follow Him every day. Amen.

🧒 Children’s Devotional — Day 34

“Jesus Knows When to Tell You”

📖 “And these things I did not say to you at the beginning, because I was with you.”
—John 16:4b (NKJV)

Have you ever had someone explain something to you after you were ready to hear it?

Jesus did that, too!

He didn’t tell His disciples everything all at once.
Why? Because He was right there with them, helping them day by day.
When the time was right, He told them more—because He knew they were ready.

Jesus knows when you’re ready, too.

He teaches you little by little, so you won’t feel too overwhelmed.
You can trust Him—He’s the best Teacher of all.

Think About It:

  • What’s something Jesus has helped you understand recently?
  • How does it feel knowing He gives you what you need at just the right time?

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for helping me grow one step at a time. You know what I need and when I need it. Help me listen to You every day. Amen.

🧒 Children’s Devotional — Day 33

“Jesus Knew Ahead of Time”

📖 “But these things I have told you, that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you of them.”
—John 16:4a (NKJV)

Have you ever been surprised by something hard?

Maybe a friend said something unkind.
Maybe a plan didn’t work out.
Maybe someone didn’t believe you when you were telling the truth.

Jesus told His friends that hard times would come—but He didn’t tell them to scare them.

He told them so they wouldn’t be shocked.

He wanted them to remember:
“I already knew this was coming—and I’m still with you.”

That’s the kind of friend Jesus is.

Think About It:

  • What’s something hard you’ve gone through lately?
  • How does it help knowing Jesus isn’t surprised by anything?

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for telling the truth, even when it’s hard. I’m glad You already know everything that will happen. Help me trust You when things don’t go my way. Amen.

🧒 Children’s Devotional — Day 31

“You Can Tell Others Too”

📖 “You also will bear witness, because you have been with Me.”
—John 15:27 (NKJV)

Do you know Jesus?
If you’ve learned about Him, believed in Him, and love Him, then guess what?

You can tell others about Him too!

That’s what Jesus meant when He said, “You also will bear witness.”
To bear witness means to tell the truth about what you know.

You don’t have to know everything or be a grown-up.
You just need to share what you’ve learned:

Jesus is kind.
He loves us.
He forgives our sins.
And He wants everyone to know Him!

When you talk about Jesus, you’re being just like His friends in the Bible.

Think About It:

  • Have you ever told someone about Jesus?
  • What’s one thing you know about Him that you could share?

Prayer:
Dear Jesus, thank You for helping me learn about You. Please help me share what I know so other people can know You too. Amen.

🧒 Children’s Devotional — Day 30

“The Helper Who Tells Us About Jesus”

📖 “When the Helper comes… He will testify of Me.”
—John 15:26 (NKJV)

Did you know that God gave us a Helper?

He’s called the Holy Spirit, and He lives in everyone who believes in Jesus.

The Holy Spirit helps us remember the things Jesus said.
He teaches us how to live like Jesus.
And most of all, He tells us the truth about Jesus—so we don’t forget who He is.

It’s kind of like having a flashlight in your heart that always shines on Jesus.

When we read the Bible, pray, or tell someone about Jesus, the Holy Spirit is there, helping us understand and share the truth.

Think About It:

  • Why do you think Jesus gave us the Holy Spirit?
  • How can you ask the Holy Spirit to help you this week?

Prayer:
Thank You, God, for sending the Holy Spirit. Help me listen when He teaches me about Jesus. I want to follow You with all my heart. Amen.
