🏡 Kingdom Family Devotional — Day 51

“When you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that your fasting will not be noticed by people…”

Matthew 6:17–18 NASB1995

🌸 Fasting That Honors God

Fasting isn’t about looking sad or sounding spiritual. It’s about loving God more than anything else. Jesus says it should be done in secret—with joy, not gloom.

As a family, this means encouraging each other to focus on God, not on the difficulty of what we’re giving up.

🕯 A Mother’s Role

Teach your children the joy of quiet sacrifice. Help them understand that fasting is an act of love, not something to talk about or show off.

📖 Talk About It:

  • What could we give up as a family for one day to spend more time with God?
  • How can we do it joyfully and without complaining?

🪡 Kingdom Practice

Choose a day this week to fast from something as a family (sweets, screens, etc.). Use that time to pray or read a Psalm together.

✍️ Prayer:

Lord, help our family fast with joy and humility. Let it be for You alone. Teach us to hunger more for Your presence than for anything else. Amen.
